Associate Professor: Library & Information Science(1Post) needed at University of Fort Hare

Minimum Requirements:

• A relevant Doctoral Degree
• At least 7 years’ experience in higher education
• Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in the area of Library and Information Science.
• A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
• Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor

• Qualification / courses in higher education teaching and learning
• Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research.
• Some standing as a scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/ plenary lectures).
• Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of early career academics.
• Evidence of successfully hosting post-doctoral research fellows.
• Evidence of national and international collaboration 
• Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning or research

Responsibilities:

• Provide academic leadership in research; curriculum design, development, and implementation
• Plan, organise, and manage teaching and research programmes.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules 
• Meet Senate-approved research publication requirements for the academic rank of associate professor
• Secure external research grants and establish research programs.
• Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows
• Establish institutional, national and international collaborations/partnerships
• Provide academic leadership and contribute to mentorship of academic staff.
• Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
• Contribute to University service and participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels.
