Responsibilities:

• Teaching methodology in the field of English studies for high school at the undergraduate level.
• Teaching English for Teachers as a core module in the undergraduate teacher education programme.
• Teaching Academic Language for Educators at undergraduate module.
• Teaching English language, literacy and literature at Honours level.
• Supervising student research at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level in English language, literacy and literature.
• Involvement in and management of research projects, including procuring research funding.
• Research in the field of English language, literacy and literature.
• Involvement in core activities of the department, such as academic administration, research, short-course development, evaluation of students during WIL, marketing, and community service projects.

Minimum requirements

Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer:

• A PhD/ D.Ed Degree in Education with a focus on English studies/ educational linguistics
• A track record of good teaching abilities at tertiary level
• Accredited research output in Education.
• Experience with Masters and Doctoral supervision
• Experience with teaching English in the Senior and FET phase in high schools

Recommendations:

• Teaching experience in higher education (university) in this field
•  A defined research trajectory that has resulted in good-quality peer-reviewed publications.
• Successful supervision of Masters and PhD students
• Experience with teaching quantitative research methodology
