Some responsibilities may include:
Conducting Food Safety Inspections
- Perform regular on-site inspections of retail stores and distribution centres.
- Assess food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with legal and client-specific requirements.
Ensuring Audit Compliance
- Confirm that retail stores follow established food safety and hygiene guidelines.
Review key records, including:
- Temperature logs
- Cleaning schedules
- Employee training documents
- Pest control reports
- Conduct thorough evaluations of food premises, procedures, and practices based on pre-determined standards.
- Adhere to client-specific behaviour expectations during audits and visits.
- Coordinate with the Key Account Manager to resolve disputes where necessary.
Complete the electronic client confirmation slip for each audit, including:
- Date
- Start and end times
- Discussion confirmation
- Signatures of the auditor and store representative
Reporting and Documentation
- Use objective evidence gathered during evaluations to create clear, accurate, and concise audit reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, B. Tech or National Diploma in Food Science, Food Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years experience in conducting food safety inspections, audits, or related roles within the food industry.
- Understanding of the requirements of R638 from the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act 54 of 1972, and Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and regulations.
- Own reliable vehicle and driver’s license.
- Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.
