Job Description

• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Blockman to join our dynamic butchery team in East London, Balfour Park

Job Description:

• The Blockman is responsible for cutting and preparing meat products for sale to customers.
• The Blockman must be skilled in using knives and meat cutting equipment to portion, trim, and grind various cuts of meat.
• They must have a good understanding of different meat cuts and how to properly prepare them based on customer preferences.
• The Blockman must adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of the meat products they are handling.
• They must keep track of inventory, rotate stock, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• The Blockman may also be responsible for assisting customers with their meat selection, providing recommendations, and answering questions about different cuts of meat.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a butcher shop or meat department is preferred.
• Knowledge of different cuts of meat and meat preparation techniques.
• Strong knife skills and the ability to safely operate meat cutting equipment.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy trays of meat products.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
