Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with company policies.
- Capture, verify, and process all financial transactions.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure month-end completeness.
Payment Gateway & Online Transaction Reconciliations
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of transactions.
- Reconcile deposits, withdrawals, chargebacks, payouts, and balances across multiple payment gateways (e.g., Ozow, PayFast, Paystack, EFT, card processors, etc.).
- Identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and escalate issues where necessary.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Capture supplier invoices and ensure accurate allocation to accounts.
- Maintain supplier statements, follow up on queries, and prepare payment runs.
- Issue customer or partner invoices where applicable.
Compliance
- Assist with industry tax submissions
Management Accounts & Reporting
- Compile monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Compile with variance analysis, reconciliations, and financial insights for senior management.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Regulatory & Audit Support
- Prepare supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Maintain organised digital and physical financial files for compliance and audit readiness.
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Experience with online transaction reconciliations advantageous but not required.
- Relevant industry experience not essential, but beneficial.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting fundamentals.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills
- Solid understanding of SARS requirements (VAT, PAYE, income tax).
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Competencies
- High level of organisation and time management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and reconciliation capabilities.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and able to handle confidential financial data.
