Business Data Manager needed at DeARX Services Ltd

About the Role

• We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Data Manager to lead the governance, quality, and strategic utilization of client data across the enterprise. This is a hybrid role based in Sandton, offering the opportunity to drive data stewardship in a complex and dynamic environment. Youll work closely with various business and technical teams to ensure data assets are governed effectively and meet the highest standards of quality, integrity, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Stewardship

• Define and implement data governance strategies for client data domains.
• Maintain enterprise data policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure adherence to data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.

Data Quality Management

• Establish data quality metrics and KPIs.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of data issues.
• Champion continuous improvement in data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a bridge between business, IT, data engineering, and analytics teams.
• Support data owners and custodians in fulfilling their data-related responsibilities.
• Communicate complex data issues and insights to senior stakeholders.

Metadata & Lineage Management

• Drive the use and maintenance of metadata repositories.
• Promote transparency of data lineage, definitions, and data usage across the organization.

Risk & Compliance Alignment

• Collaborate with Information Security, Risk, and Compliance to align data practices with regulatory and ethical standards.
• Contribute to audit readiness and support data protection initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or enterprise data management roles.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
• Experience with data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar).
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as POPIA, GDPR, and BCBS 239.
