KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Business Case Development
- Using the relevant systems and data, identify product opportunities for further investigation for new product development, this within the strategic direction of the business
- The creation and evaluation of business cases for new product development
- The creation of content associated with these business cases
- Attend to any other research and data analysis as required by the business unit for the purpose of new product development and pricing solutions
- Update business cases of products already secured and, in the pipeline, annually to support Mid-Term-Plans as well as launch readiness
- Review local acquisition opportunities with the Business Development Manager and Access Marketing Manager
- Assist the business unit with the offloading of assets no longer of strategic value to the company
Financial Modelling
With help from the business case,
- Calculate Net Present Values (NPV’s)
- Calculate break-even points
- Calculate gross profit margins as well as net profit margins
- Investment payback periods
- Provide suggestions on ways to improve the financials of business cases
- Provide potential suppliers and vendors with a three-year non-binding forecast and propose a future selling price for products of interest
- Assist the business development unit to develop and build financial models and / or templates in order to compare two or more scenarios
- Attend to any other financial modeling as required by the business unit
- Where required conduct pricing analyses of our brands against other competitors in the market with an eye on funder benchmark requirements and key account requirement
Pipeline & Product Launch Coordination
- Work collaboratively with the Scientific Team to ensure dossiers secured are efficiently secured and filed
- Assist in driving new product launches from registration through to launch, with a focus on cross-collaboration with all teams with the goal of shortening launch timelines
Database Management
Intellectual Property Management
- Manage the new product intellectual property searches with Lupin
- Manage the new product intellectual property searches with the local legal team for products near registration and launch
- Manage the new product intellectual property with respect to trademark applications and renewals
- Build and maintain an IP database, for patent restrictions, trademarks and other
Business Development Leads
- Build and maintain an effective molecule sourcing directory
- Keep records of all proposals, models and outcomes with regard to business development activities
Contracts
Management of the Concord System that includes uploading and renewals of contracts/SLAs for the following Departments:
- Business Development
- Marketing Department
Market Access Analysis
From time to time and as required by the Access Marketing Manager, assist with the operational throughput of the market access strategy regarding, but not limited to,
- Financial analysis
- Pricing comparisons
- Formulary reviews
- Department of Health SEP adjustments
General
- Perform any other duties as requested for the success of Marketing & Business Development
Requirements
PRE-REQUISITES
A bachelor’s level degree or equivalent with a focus on one or more of the below is preferred:
- Data analysis
- Market analysis
- Statistics
- Mathematics
- Finance
- Business administration
- Minimum of two years related business development working experience
- Minimum of two years within the pharmaceutical industry
