What the day will look like
- Responsible for formulating and implementing divisional strategies that will maximise new business opportunities, ensure retention of existing business and realise opportunities for cross selling.
- Responsible for delivering on revenue targets for business unit.
- Responsible for the financial management of the business unit, including annual budgeting and financial and reporting.
- Responsible for analysing and interpreting data in respect of industry competitors in order to exploit emerging opportunities and develop competitive advantage.
- Leading and performance managing a significant team in the business unit.
- Working in partnership with other Business Unit leaders/ heads to develop and deliver divisional initiatives.
- Lead a significant team to deliver against client needs and manage the performance of that team
- Ensures that processes and measures are in place for monitoring and maintaining standards of business conduct consistent with Aon Ltd and legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Contributes to and participates cross functionally with Aon wide senior executive groups and committees and ad hoc project teams and other groupings as required.
- Responsible for engaging in business development and/or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
Qualifications.
- Grade 12 (matric).
- An appropriate bachelor’s degree.
- An appropriate financial services related tertiary qualification.
- A postgraduate business qualification, e.g. an MBA will be advantageous.
- Registration with an appropriate industry body e.g. IISA
- Registration as a representative in terms of the FAIS act.
- Registration as a Key Individual in terms of the FAIS act will be advantageous.
Knowledge.
- In depth strategic knowledge in respect of the Risk Services/Short term arena
- In-depth strategic and operational know-how of the industry, business strategies required to successfully lead and manage a health and benefits business unit in South Africa.
- Comprehensive knowledge in respect of best of breed short-term solutions in the South African as well as international market.
- In depth technical and strategic knowledge relative to placement of complex Property Damage/Business Interruption and Liability Programmes.
- Understanding of Alternate Risk Transfer Solutions and ability to merge these with traditional transfer methodologies.

- Well-developed analytical skills, specifically decision-making, problem-solving and potential problem analysis skills.
Experience.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in a similar or related role in the short-term insurance industry.
- A minimum of 5 years managerial experience at senior level, having managed managers.
