RESPONSIBILITIES
- As the Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing the beauty categories for Coty South Africa. You should be able to analyse and synthesise large amounts of data and provide relevant business recommendations and strategies. Category performance will focus on effectively managing product lifecycles, identifying opportunities through category and competitor analysis, range rationalization, and overall top line performance.
Your main areas of responsibility will include the following:
- Lead Pricing Strategy
- Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize market penetration and profitability.
- Determine optimal market pricing based on competitor analysis, category trends, and historical sales data.
- Validate and maintain accurate in-market pricing intelligence.
- Monitor and report on the integrity of the pricing value chain.
- Co-own updates to the price list.
- Negotiate pricing internally to secure the best outcomes for the local market (e.g., CSSP).
- Customer and Product Data Management
- Manage RSP, billing prices, wholesale pricing, and assortment in alignment with brand approvals.
- Oversee product lifecycle activities (new product development and discontinuations) and product grouping, excluding EAN management.
- Category Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct competitive tracking and analysis.
- Perform category insights and reporting to identify opportunities and trends.
- Optimize product range for a productive and efficient stock mix, adapting strategies to local market needs.
- Prepare and deliver accurate reports and analyses.
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Manage global and local product discontinuations.
- Prepare new product offers for customer forecasting.
- Confirm monthly order forms for in-market requirements.
- Ensure quarterly order forms are ready for wholesale deployment.
- Sales Review Process
- Support and participate in regular sales reviews to drive performance improvements.
You have a passion for beauty! As a Category Manager, you will develop multi-tasking skills and get energy from working in a fast-paced, diverse and international environment. Other than that, you:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in Category Management
- Have a degree or diploma in marketing or similar tertiary education
- Have proven ability to drive retail success of a brand/product
- Managed marketing budgets
- Have experience with luxury products. fragrance, colour and skincare are an advantage.
- Knowledge of the market and understanding lifestyle category and market segments
- Have strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Have a good command of the English language
