Role description

As the Chief Agent at MIBCO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations align with national strategic objectives and compliance standards. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Inspectorate personnel within your region, while also fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Align regional inspectorate function with national and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that National Strategic objectives are met in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Manage Agents to ensure performance goals are met to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day management of Inspectorate staff.
  • Coordinate inspectorate activities to improve and maintain compliance levels as per the collective agreement.
  • Manage internal relationships within the Inspectorate and regional team.
  • Maintain communication with establishments regarding the collective agreement to promote healthy industrial relations.
  • Oversee the registration of new establishments within the region.
  • Attend National Chief Agent’s Forum and Regional Board meetings.
  • Ensure exemptions related to inspectorate are captured accurately on the system and submitted for approval by the Regional Secretary.
  • Manage the process of capturing letters of good standing.
  • Compile monthly reports for respective forums.
  • Assess and address training requirements for staff.
  • Manage staff performance and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Provide assistance in the collection of outstanding returns via the Regional Credit Control department.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with a post Matric qualification in Labour Relations will be highly required.
  • Must hold a Designated status for a minimum for over three years and above.
  • minimum 4 years’ experience in a managerial role, preferably in a regulatory or compliance-related environment
  • Strong understanding of collective agreements and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams to achieve performance goals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • MIBCO Succession Planning Programme will be advantageous.
