Job Purpose    

  • Supports and participates in establishing functional requirements and manages the professional and technical processes associated with provision and of an Electronic Engineering service for the entire region through the alignment and adjustment of role boundaries and resources against short, medium and longer term plans and programmes, co-ordination of continuous improvement/ research initiatives to determine and address inadequacy or gaps in current practices.

Key Responsibility Areas    

  • Provides support and participates in functional planning processes associated with Electronic Engineering related priorities and requirements for the entire region.
  • Controls conformance with contract terms and conditions in respect of the quality, cost and timing of deliverables associated with multiple complex or, integrated and advanced electronic engineering interventions for the entire electricity network
  • Provides information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with the technical and professional dimensions of the management of high level integrated and advanced systems
  • Applies electronic engineering principles and procedures to manage the real time operating environment with a complex arrangement of hardware, software, networks and auxiliary technology associated with computerized Network Information and Electronic Management Systems of the entire region.
  • Controls or, executes high level interpretation of principles and techniques associated with the performance of an integrated and advanced Network Information and Electronic Management Systems of the entire region
  • Controls the implementation of the strategy to guide operational applications associated with sub-station monitoring, data acquisition and control and computerized presentation of electrical network layout, model and information.
  • Disseminates information on the technical and professional aspects relating to network Management.

Essential Requirements    

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering (NQF level 8) or equivalent acceptable to the Engineering Council of South Africa for registration.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 5 years’ relevant post professional registration experience relevant to the electricity distribution or transmission industry

Preferred Requirements    
Special Conditions:

  • Protective Clothing as per the PPE.
  • Incumbents will be subject to transfer / relocation to any of the Electricity Unit’s depots or divisions as required.
