Duties and responsibilities:
- Monitor the parliamentary copyright legislation changes.
- Review policies relevant to copyright.
- Monitor developments relating to Copyright Act.
- Develop manuals and provide guidance on copyright compliance.
- Draw attention of senior management to copyright infringement.
- Log the readers on the NEVADA system.
- Analyse the content of the readers and course packs.
- Provide guidance on how to adjust the content in order to comply with Copyright related regulations.
- Direct the university community on alternative measures to deal with third-party content, e.g., Blackboard, or e-links to library databases.
- Promote the University’s IP Policy.
- Manage DALRO application on the copyright.
- Direct the University community with all issues related to copyright activities.
- Oversee copyright clearance process.
- Apply the smooth transition of licence agreement changes.
- Attend to all queries relating to the copyright application system.
- Provide leadership to the university community on copyright legislation.
- Liaise with publishers on copyrights request.
- Monitor copyright compliance in the production of study guides and online tutorials.
- Monitor the Copyright Legislation and advise the University Community.
- Provide Guidance to Scholarly Communications licensing.
- Negotiate with publishers on depositing of UFS research output (articles) on the Institutional Repository.
- Facilitate the observance of Copyright legislation.
- Explore cost-effective ways to disseminate course materials.
- Capacitate university community on copyright Legislation and related Regulations.
- Capacitate university community of NEVADA copyright system.
- Conduct workshops on Copyright compliance.
- Provide advice on Copyright legislation.
- Develop training manuals on Copyright and related legislations.
- Provide advice to University on Creative Commons Licenses.
- Facilitate the practical process of obtaining copyright clearance.
Inherent requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences on NQF Level 7 or any Bachelor’s Degree on NQF Level 7 plus Postgraduate Diploma in Library Information Sciences NQF Level 8.
- A minimum of 3 (three) years relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
- 2024 LIASA Membership certificate.
Recommendations:
- A Law degree will be an added advantage.
