REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) / Standard 10 (or Vocational National Certificate).
  • Degree/Diploma in General Nursing Science and Midwifery.
  • One (1) year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care (PHC).
  • Current registration with SANC as a General Nurse with Midwifery and Primary Health Care.
  • A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration as a General Nurse with SANC, of which 10 years must be appropriate/recognizable PHC experience after obtaining a one-year post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care.
  • Current and previous verification of employment endorsed by HR (not a certificate of service).

Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Competencies Required:

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation such as the Nursing Acts, Mental Act, OH&S Act, Batho Pele Principles, Patients’ Rights Charter, Labour Relations Act, and Grievance Procedures.

DUTIES:

  • Provide quality comprehensive Primary Health Care by delivering promotive, preventative, curative, and rehabilitative services for clients and the community.
  • Ensure proper utilization and safekeeping of basic medical equipment, surgical pharmaceutical stock, and resources.
  • Assist in orientation, induction, and monitoring of all nursing staff.
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision of all nursing staff and offer guidance.
  • Provide nursing care to enhance health service delivery by adhering to Batho Pele principles.
  • Perform duties according to the scope of practice with proficiency.
  • Implement infection control standards and practices to improve the quality of nursing care.
  • Ensure proper implementation of National Core Standards, quality, and clinical audits.
  • Enhance staff and patient knowledge through health education and in-service training.
  • Implement standards and criteria for quality nursing.
  • Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise patient reports and interventions, ensuring accurate records of client interventions.
  • Ensure proper utilization of human, material, and financial resources while keeping up-to-date records.
  • Plan and organize work for oneself and support personnel to ensure proper nursing care in the clinic.
  • Motivate junior staff for development to increase expertise and assist patients in developing self-care abilities.
  • Strengthen data systems and treatment outcomes by assisting with capturing on Tier.net and patient registration (HPRS) system.
  • Support the realization and maintenance of the Ideal Clinic Programme in the facility.
  • Coordinate and manage services to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.
