RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent is expected to perform the following duties. Please note that the below provides a high-level overview and may not include all related functions that may be required:
- Working closely with the core project team to engage district and sub-district stakeholders, selecting sites, and participating in preliminary planning and preparation for implementation at the district and sub-district level;
- Working closely with the local sub-district manager and facility staff to plan and prepare for implementation at the facility level;
- Conducting facility baseline assessments and staff skills assessments;
- Through a process of joint planning and problem-solving with onsite teams, facilitating operational changes that support efficient service delivery and high-quality clinical care;
- Training and mentoring professional nurses and other facility staff on clinical topics relevant to the project, including vertical transmission prevention, PrEP, ART, VL monitoring and management, family planning, management of the HIV-exposed infant and other elements of an integrated package of care for the mother-infant pair (MIP).
- Conducting quality assurance and quality improvement activities;
- Supporting accurate record-keeping and data management;
- Ensuring that patient and data confidentiality are maintained at all times;
- Generating reports at intervals as requested by the research team;
- Collaborating with team members to understand and address evolving issues;
- Attending weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the research team;
- Being the point person at a facility level, at any clinical or service delivery-related queries and reporting of problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-year nursing degree;
- 10 years’ work experience as a professional (registered) nurse providing front-line nursing services;
- 10 years’ work experience as a HIV/AIDS/STI/TB (HAST)/Vertical Transmission Prevention (VTP)/Maternal/Neonatal/Child/Women’s Health (MNCWH) sub-district coordinator/programme manager in the public sector;
- 1-year managerial experience, providing quality comprehensive supervision for patient-centred service delivery and integrated care;
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council;
- Driver’s License.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- In-depth knowledge of the functioning of health facilities, including the dynamics between role-players of different cadres and community-based services;
- Clinical knowledge in the fields of HIV Prevention, MNCWH, VTP and HIV Treatment;
- Facilitation of clinical training;
- Change management principles;
- Quality improvement principles;
- Report Writing skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
- Proficiency in various Cloud Storage Platforms;
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team;
- Excellent communication and change management skills;
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude;
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
