Job Description

  • NOV Gqeberha is seeking a skilled CNC Turner Machinist (Milling) to join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing and repairing high-quality components to precise engineering drawing specifications while meeting NOV’s quality and HSE standards. This role involves operating a range of CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and conventional machines within a fast-paced job shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and repair precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling machines and lathes, as well as conventional machining equipment.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and ensure dimensional accuracy using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Work to tight tolerances and maintain product quality in line with company standards.
  • Adhere strictly to NOV’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the job shop.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Turner Machinist / Toolmaker or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy engineering or precision machining environment.
  • Proficient in operating and programming Siemens, Heidenhein, and Haas CNC controls.
  • Strong background in milling operations; turning experience also advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems is beneficial.
