Summary
Working with the Head of Commercial and the Commercial Executives the Commercial Analyst is a strategic partner, translating data into actionable insights for the team. What you will be doing:
Trading analysis & support
- Translate key trading data (destinations, booking rates, loyalty trends) to identify hidden revenue streams in strategic decision-making.
- Identify tactical & strategic opportunities, prepare ad-hoc analyses (travel trends, destinations, programs), and contribute expertise to discussions and decision-making during meetings.
- Proactively council business leaders on trading opportunities and potential risks based on market trends.
- Partner with Commercial Executives to refine decision-making processes, uncover new revenue streams and use their analytical expertise to deliver insightful data analysis and training.
Financial modelling and revenue management
- Build and develop a new, intelligent and user-friendly supply & demand-based revenue management model that maximises revenue, margin and passenger volumes according.
- Explore & develop new commercial initiatives & ideas, building scenario models and helping to develop new processes that may arise as a result.
- Support the strategy & budget planning process by actively leading commercial scenario modelling based on various critical metrics including occupancy levels, passenger volumes and margin opportunities.
- Work alongside the existing Commercial Analysts to extract findings from our other models and forecasting tools to add to the suite of models that facilitate quick, incisive decision making and maximise commercial opportunities.
Promotion analysis & support
- Forecast and analyse UK/North America promotions: margin impact, uptake, and revenue lift. Recommend improvements or discontinuation based on performance.
- Turn successful promotions into future campaign insights, maximising return on investment
General responsibilities
- Essential Communication & Collaboration: Proactively maintain relationships with executive decision-makers and be a brand ambassador.
- Flexibility & Support: Cover Trading meetings during absences and be open to supporting wider group policies, job shadowing, and company initiatives.
What we are looking for:
- Authority in trading data analysis & interpretation, with strong business insight and financial fluency. Shown ability to influence trading decisions.
- Direct experience of building and handling revenue and margin management systems in a similar industry (e.g. an airline).
- Advanced Excel skills are a must.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, across a wide range of key players, including preparation and presentation of board reviewed information.
- Travel industry knowledge, or similar, is highly desirable.
- Ability to build reports in PowerBI is desirable.
- Python (or similar) knowledge and/or experience of working with AI platforms would be advantageous.
