Commercial Underwriter needed at RBS

Role Purpose

• The Commercial Lines Underwriter provides effective and efficient underwriting services for commercial clients, supporting the business strategy by retaining existing clients and securing new business. This role ensures compliance with company standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes, while delivering a high-quality client experience.

What you’ll be responsible for

Financial & Business Performance

• You will actively minimize cancellations and contribute to meeting client retention targets. Your work will support the company’s financial goals by applying sound underwriting decisions and managing risks effectively.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Professional, accurate, and timely communication with clients, account executives, and insurers is central to this role.
• You will build strong, mutually beneficial relationships and ensure client satisfaction targets are consistently achieved.

Underwriting & Business Processes

• You will manage the end-to-end underwriting process for new business, renewals, endorsements, and re-broke policies, as well as handle cancellations.
• This includes addressing general enquiries, assessing cover and product requirements, rating policies, and maintaining accurate records.
• You will adhere to company quality standards, regulatory frameworks, and internal mandates, while contributing to team projects and maintaining productivity targets.

Job Requirements
What you’ll need

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

• RE5
• FAIS compliant (credits and/or full qualification)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 3 years as a Commercial Lines Underwriter (medium to large commercial accounts)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience at a short-term insurance brokerage
