Communications Technician needed at SA Metal Group

Job Description

The Communications department currently has a vacancy for a methodical, attentive to detail individual to join their team. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Installation, wiring and mounting of various electronic devices, machines or equipment
• Installation and programming of access control systems, CCTV cameras and motorized entrance points
• Installation, fault finding, relocation and fitment of all telecommunications
• Fitting and testing of data cables for all network points and power skirting
• Assist in moving offices and setting up PC’s, Phone lines, and moving files
• Mounting, wiring and fitting grids for wireless infrastructure
• Day to day maintenance ,installation and servicing of security and data equipment
• Tool and equipment maintenance
• Adhoc activities as requested by Manager
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Semi-Skilled team members
• Housekeeping
• Understanding of and abiding by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Qualifying Criteria

• Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Relevant certifications or qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within an electronic security field
• Basic electric/electronic ,CCTV ,intercom, data or alarm courses
• IP and analogue camera ,alarm, automation ,data cabling ,electric fencing ,intercoms ,UPS and Alternating Current electrical knowledge
• Knowledge of data cabinet wiring
• Knowledge and experience working with power tools
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be prepared to work overtime when required
