Compliance Officer: Market Conduct / FAIS needed at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• To execute projects and tasks which assist Capitec Bank in complying with its regulatory obligations, without unnecessarily restricting its business objectives, by providing relevant and effective advice to the business and ensuring regulatory risks are effectively managed. 
• To assist the bank in meeting its regulatory obligations in relation to compliance and ensure that business processes are performed within the relevant statutory requirements.

Experience
Minimum:

• 3 years’ financial services compliance /legal advising 
• Stakeholder management at all levels and up to Exco
• Holding responsibility for oversight of all regulations and Acts relating to financial services generally.
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (IT, Business etc.)
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and influence.

Ideal:

• Holding responsibility for oversight of all regulations and Acts relating to a specific portfolio within financial services such as insurance, credit.
• Experience of Capitec Bank products and services

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Accounting – Management Accounting

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• Honours Degree in Law or Accounting – Management Accounting

Knowledge
Minimum:

• SA Financial Services legislation, including (but not limited to):
• National Payment Systems Act 
• Banks Act
• Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA)
• Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
• Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
• NCA
• ECT Act
• Consumer Protection Act
• Business analysis and design
• Financial systems and procedures

Ideal:

• The regulatory environment (i.e. FIC, SARB) related to the specialist environment operating in
• Banking industry 
• Payment systems
• Working knowledge of Capitec Bank’s:
• Operational structure
• Banking products
• Banking systems & processes
