Purpose

  • As a C&I Team Lead, you will work closely with the Senior Manager-Control & Instrumentation: Midrand and his Team in all aspects of ensuring that engineering and service requirements are met across all sites, so that customers identify Proconics as a trusted and critical partner to their business. The major responsibilities of this position are to provide team leadership to the Control and Instrumentation engineering Team and ensure delivery efficient and effective engineering solutions for Brownfield EPC projects. The role ensures technical excellence, adherence to project requirements, and compliance with industry standards. Deliver control and instrumentation discipline deliverables and oversee that the intent is being carried through the 
  • design; managing interfaces and supporting commissioning and optimisation, where projects span across multiple disciplines. Additionally, the team lead provides pro-active recommendations to customers and other key internal stakeholders to establish long-term partnership. The Team Lead will lead a small team of Engineers and Designers to provide a high-quality product to our clients.

Requirements

  • Lead the Control and Instrumentation Engineering team, ensuring technical excellence and high-quality project execution. 
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring skills are aligned with industry standards and project requirements. 
  • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of control systems and instrumentation solutions for multiple projects. 
  • Ensure all project work adheres to client specifications, industry regulations, and budgetary constraints. 
  • Provide technical guidance on control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and DCS, ensuring correct design and functionality. 
  • Ensure that instrumentation solutions meet project requirements and are compliant with safety and performance standards. 
  • Manage the team’s project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining high standards of delivery. 
  • Oversee procurement and subcontracting activities related to control systems and instrumentation, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to specifications. 
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to control systems and instrumentation, ensuring project success and adherence to regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, ISA) and safety regulations during the design and implementation phases. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for control and instrumentation matters with clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals. 
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, electrical, civil) to ensure smooth project execution.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic/Control and Instrumentation). 
  • Specialised certifications in Instrumentation and Control systems will be advantageous.
  • Professional Registration with ECSA. 
  • 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within an EPC project environment, with a focus on execution phases. 
  • Advanced knowledge of control (PLC, DCS, Safety systems) and instrumentation engineering principles. 
  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA development. 
  • Proficiency in C&I design software and tools. 
  • In-depth understanding of technical specifications and industry standards. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
