Job purpose

• To provide a professional art gallery service as a commercial satellite of the Pretoria Art Museum

 Appointment requirements

• Grade 12
• At least two years’ relevant experience and basic knowledge of history of art and art techniques with the understanding of basic aspects of museum collection management
• A valid driving licence with own transport
• Computer literacy

 Personal attributes and/or competencies

• Verbal and written communication skills; planning and organising skills; ability to work under pressure; good interpersonal skills

Primary functions

• Manage all aspects of exhibitions, keep documentation and oversee the conservation of the artwork collection
• Provide the public with a professional gallery-related service
• Be responsible for the financial management of all transactions
• Manage all security aspects
• Be responsible for all assets
• Assume responsibility for the professional care and security of artworks on exhibition and for the logistics of exhibitions
• Supply information and statistics
• Liaise with culture officers and curators regarding community outreach actions
• Initiate and organise art exhibitions in collaboration with curators
