Main purpose of position
- Currently, we are looking for a Customer Acquisition Manager for Lyra Energy in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.
- Lyra Energy is a key enabler of Scatec’s private-offtake energy supply initiative in South Africa. It was co-founded by Scatec and STANLIB to advance innovative private-sector energy solutions and enable access to renewable power through market-based mechanisms.
- As our Customer Acquisition Manager, you will be responsible for unlocking sales opportunities within South Africa’s energy market by securing private commercial and industrial clients for Lyra Energy. This role combines strategic business development, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory advocacy to drive commercial growth and support South Africa’s transition to cleaner energy. You will develop and implement customer acquisition strategies that expand Lyra Energy’s footprint through direct sales, partnerships, and tailored energy solutions.
Main responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new commercial and industrial customer opportunities to grow Lyra Energy’s footprint in South Africa
- Develop and implement customer acquisition strategies aligned with Lyra’s business and market objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders to drive business growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver tailored energy and wheeling solutions
- Lead commercial negotiations and manage the end-to-end onboarding process for new customers
- Monitor and interpret regulatory, policy, and market developments affecting private-sector energy participation
- Advocate for regulatory alignment and pro-business energy policies that enable market access
- Represent Lyra Energy at industry events, forums, and stakeholder engagements
- Track sales performance, client satisfaction, and market trends to inform strategic decision-making
- Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements while supporting long-term client success
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, Public Administration, or Energy Law) is advantageous
- At least 7 years of experience in business development, within the energy sector engagement, regulatory affairs, or energy sales
- Extensive customer-facing experience, including in technical account management, contract management, and/or customer success
- Strong understanding of the energy landscape, Eskom’s supply structure, and South Africa’s regulatory landscape
- Proven ability to navigate sector negotiations, stakeholder management, and policy advocacy
- Experience in developing and closing large-scale energy contracts, PPPs, and service agreements
- Familiarity with renewable energy solutions, particularly energy wheeling
