Customs Specialist -Durban Job at Rhlig-Grindrod

Job Description

• We have an exciting role for a Customs Specialist.
• The role is based at our Head office in Linbro Park, JHB.

Education

• Grade 12 Certificate
• 1-year customs related qualification at NQF level 3

Knowledge and experience

• 10 years import/customs experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry of which at least 5 years were in a customs framing entry capacity
• Must be well versed with Refund/Drawback procedure’s and all adjustments
• Must understand acquittal process
• Commercial, transport, carrier & depot and statutory body documents & stamps
• Basic international trade principles. Applicable knowledge of Customs and Excise Act
• Geography
• Functional business objectives and strategies
• Knowledge of INCO Terms Carrier & depot conditions of trade
• Principles of Duty calculation
• Knowledge of tariffing
• National currencies and international codes
• Computer literacy
• Good communication skills (Verbal &Written)
• Situation analysis and problem solving. Good Interpersonal skills
• Client orientation. Accuracy and Methodical
• Handle pressure and attention to detail

Overall responsibilities include 

• Processing of customs and other statutory body documents required for customs
• Audit products against customs and other statutory body requirements
• Update Harmonised Customs Tariff and related books
• Comply with the requirements of the quality management system
