About the role:
- The Deputy Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing production processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products in a cost-effective, safe, and reliable manner. This role involves managing factory assets efficiently to support continuous and reliable production. Additionally, the Deputy Factory Manager leads and manages the process and maintenance functions, ensuring strategic execution, optimal resource utilization, and process excellence within the factory
Required core competencies:
- NQF Level 6/7 Degree in an Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Metallurgy
- GCC (Must have)
- Postgrad qualification in financial management is advantageous
- 5 years post qualification engineering or process experience in FMCG or mining industry
- Not worked for more than 2 companies
- 5 years as Technical Manager
Key responsibilities:
Asset Management and Preservation Strategy
- Assist in developing the asset preservation strategy, reviewing the asset register, and determining the remaining useful life of assets.
- Evaluate previous budgets and expenses to formulate future maintenance budgets.
- Monitor plant and line performance to identify improvement areas and set new performance targets.
Maintenance Effectiveness
- Oversee preventive and reactive maintenance to optimize asset performance at minimal cost and risk.
- Manage maintenance standards, allocate budgets, and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and performance KPIs.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and maintenance, including defect elimination and small project management.
- Analyze customer complaints to ensure the quality control system prevents defects from reaching customers.
People Leadership and Development
- Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance and process teams.
- Ensure workflow optimization, assign responsibilities, and prepare schedules.
- Train new employees on machinery, standard operating procedures, and safety practices.
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SHE regulations and perform regular safety inspections.
- Manage internal and external audits related to ISO 9001, OHS, and risk management.
Production and Process Management
- Set and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives.
- Monitor production output to ensure compliance with specifications and manage quality control processes.
