About the Role
The Design Manager leads the technical execution of workspace transformations, ensuring aesthetic excellence and data-driven spatial optimization. Utilizing ServiceNow for project tracking and AWS for engineering data storage, the manager ensures 100% compliance with global brand design standards. Their leadership minimizes operational risk during facility fit-outs and leverages data to drive the efficiency and commercial appeal of workplace environments.
Job Purpose
- Lead the design and concept development of new brands to support IWG’s rapid global expansion. Responsible for designing centres that deliver exceptional customer experiences and generate positive commercial returns. The role combines strategic design thinking with operational execution to ensure every centre delivers exceptional customer experience and commercial impact. This role is pivotal in enabling scale through efficient, brand-consistent design delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable design standards and collateral across all 18 brands.
- Create centre designs that launch IWG’s new brands.
- Develop concepts that enhance centres and brand differentiation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to accelerate centre roll-out.
- Support on design related queries from our partners and internal teams.
- Manage external agencies (where required) to develop our design proposition.
Experience / Required Skills
- Background in design, ideally with architectural experience.
- Proven ability to balance creativity with operational scalability.
- Strong commercial awareness to assess design impact on profitability and brand perception.
- Experience managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and a drive to challenge the status quo.
Career Growth & Education
A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering is required, alongside experience in large-scale commercial projects. Professionals can advance to Global Head of Design or Project Director roles by mastering project management methodologies. Participating in specialized workshops on sustainable design and obtaining PMP certifications provides a path to senior leadership in international infrastructure firms.
