DevOps Engineer (W&I Tech) needed at Investec

• Investec Sandton is seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our Wealth & Investment (W&I) Tech Team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and innovating application and platform delivery across our global online platform. You will be responsible for enhancing software lifecycle processes through solid CI/CD principles, automating operational areas to create a self-service approach for teams, and proactively identifying areas for improvement with a strong focus on our cloud strategy, infrastructure, and security design.
• You will respond to platform support events and ensure systems and applications are recovered within agreed service level agreements (SLAs). This role operates within a collaborative team environment that values learning and collective ownership, all while adhering to a DevOps mindset and a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) approach tailored to our client-centric vision.

Experience, skills and capability

• Develop automation solutions and enable CI/CD processes guided by DevOps principles and relevant toolsets.
• Apply SRE principles to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance, ensuring that our platforms meet the demands of our users.
• Respond to events and monitor alerts to recover systems and applications within agreed timeframes, assisting delivery teams to maintain availability.
• Ensure infrastructure is built according to design specifications, promoting an infrastructure as code mindset.
• Collaborate closely with development teams throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) to ensure successful project delivery to production environments.
• Provide technical guidance and support during the release process, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills across the platform.
• Familiarize yourself with system integration dependencies that impact availability.
• Design and implement robust cloud infrastructure solutions, leveraging your strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure to optimize performance and security.
• Apply strong design and architecture experience across multiple technologies, with an understanding of Cloud DevOps services and hosting.

Skills Required

• Solid understanding of DevOps/SRE methodologies and practices, with a focus on improving system reliability and operational efficiency.
• Proficient in CI/CD principles and their execution.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including its services, deployment models, and best practices for cloud security and performance.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s) technologies and administration.
• Experience with Windows Server, Linux, and Docker (Containerization).
• Understanding of Dot Net, C#, and JavaScript, with troubleshooting capabilities.
• Proficient in Git, YAML, and source control management.
• Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or Terraform.
• Understanding of web security, domain and SSL configuration, DNS, and web protocols (e.g., HTTP).
• Awareness of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like Cloudflare.
• Strong grasp of network design, load balancers, security, and web servers.
• Understanding of event management patterns and design.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships within a team
