Diesel Mechanic needed at SKG Properties

POSITION OVERVIEW:

• We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in East London, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining and repairing diesel engines, as well as a strong understanding of automotive technology. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our company’s fleet of vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel plant equipment, trucks and fleet and related components
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance 
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
• Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and timely completion of repairs
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations at all times
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and techniques
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members regarding maintenance and repair needs
• Assist with other duties as assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certificate or diploma in diesel mechanics or related field preferred
• Trade tested 
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic

SKILLS: 

• Strong understanding of diesel engine technology and repair techniques
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
