RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Drive and accelerate South Africa’s digital commerce agenda by shaping and executing the commercial, strategic, and marketing vision across both pureplay and omnichannel eRetail ecosystems. Champion transformative partnerships with key customers to unlock sustainable, profitable growth, strengthen market leadership, and elevate the end-to-end digital experience across the Luxury and Consumer Beauty portfolios.

Your main areas of responsibility will include the following:

Commercial & Business Ownership:

  • Own and deliver the digital P&L (Budget planning, sales, forecasting, profitability, pricing & promo strategy).
  • Full commercial ownership for Pure players; strategic and executional alignment for Omni-retailers’ online arms.
  • Partner cross-functionally with brand, media, and Omni teams to build a best-in-class eCommerce experience.

Marketing & Merchandising:

  • Lead product visibility, content quality, search optimization and on-site experience to maximise conversion.
  • Coordinate digital campaigns and cross-channel activations to drive traffic and strengthen brand equity.
  • Ensure seamless alignment between global brand strategy and local digital execution.
  • Leadership in E-Trade strategy, brand activation online, and digital retail innovation

Operations & Data:

  • Track performance metrics (traffic, conversion, AOV, ROAS, etc.).
  • Use analytics to inform decisions and sharpen digital ROI.
  • Identify growth drivers, performance gaps, and optimisation opportunities.
  • Champion the use of dashboards and insights to drive agile decision-making.

Channel & Partner Management

  • Build strong partnerships with key e-retailers
  • Negotiate trade terms, media packages, and exclusive opportunities.
  • Drive the development of new digital channels and lead market expansion initiatives to accelerate growth.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Partner with marketing, sales, and supply teams to sync launches and deliver end-to-end excellence.
  • Manage agency relationships and digital vendors.
  • Guide and mentor e-commerce teams to build internal digital capability.
  • Act as the key contact for global and regional digital teams to ensure best practice sharing and alignment.

You have a passion for beauty! As a Digital Commerce Manager, you will develop multi-tasking skills and get energy from working in a fast-paced, diverse and international environment. Other than that, you:

  • Have 5-8 years of experience in the retail industry, and at least 5 years in E-Commerce.
  • Experience with luxury products. Fragrance, colour and skincare are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the market and understanding lifestyle category and market segments
  • In depth knowledge of digital and ecommerce marketing in a retail or beauty environment, with specific knowledge of online beauty retailer media activations.
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strategic thinking, creativity and innovative ideas for campaigns
  • Project, time and change management skills with diverse audiences and environments
  • Strong planning. organisational skills and can work with ambiguity
  • Strong market research skills, understands and can forecast trends
  • Able to lead self and others, with strong interpersonal skills, EQ, coaching and teamwork abilities
  • Customer Centric approach and the ability to respond to consumer and customer needs
  • Ability to work independently and employs sound judgement in decision making
  • Full proficiency in English language.  Confident in both written and spoken communication with the ability to present and influence at all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate to advanced)
