Role Context:
- Overall Management of the Domestic Sort & Domestic distribution operations, Monitoring of the International Sort & distribution, Monitoring of the imports Departments & transit shed, monitoring of the export process & routing.
- Monitoring the reception area and staff. Co- ordination of the international check in process, Planning and implementation of day to day running of the warehouse. Security and quality management of employees & equipment.
- Effective employees’ allocation for effective operations. To maintain relationships with airlines and third-party agencies. Providing solutions to customers & internal contacts
Key responsibilities:
- To integrate quality into the business to ensure that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customer’s immediate and future needs.
- To organise meetings with employees to give feedback on shift performance from time to time
- Effectively ensure that the quality of work is kept high at all times.
- Effective control and monitoring of security measures to ensure effective operation and safe handling of material and equipment.
- Completion of daily, weekly and monthly reports on time to meet deadlines.
- Ensure DHL procedures are followed correctly and that all shipments are scanned and sorted into the correct bags/bins before collections.
- After the material has been scanned and sorted into station bins make sure that the materials are in correct route and sapphire scanners are downloaded.
- Ensure that the truckers collect all the material that are been scanned by sort area. Ensure that the Service Centre’s are contacted if there is any material left behind.
- Ensure that the Network is continuously updated with flight information; ensure that pre-alerts are in accordance with DHL standards; ensure that recovery details are obtained from destination gateways.
- Ensure that the Network is continuously updated on shipment delays and provide timely feed-back on queries received.
- Ensure that all systems are utilized to their full potential, these include C.A.L.M.S (Cargo Airline management system)
- Ensure that backup equipment is available for emergencies.
- Prepare and submit operations reports to the Snr GTW Manager & Gateway Director, when required. These reports serve the purpose of highlighting any operational problems and are to include the following:
- Upliftment / Recovery Details System / Equipment Issues Operations Issues Airfreight
Qualifications – External
Minimum Requirements
Education & experience
- Post Matric qualification.
- 5+ years Supervisory experience
- Proven track record of managing at least 16-25 employees.
- Good verbal & written communication
- Prepared to work rotational shifts.
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- 3 years Airline Handling and Operational /Warehouse Management Experience
