REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- A three-year National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree or similar tertiary qualification (minimum 360 credits), preferably in administration or finance, with 18 months of proven experience in the processing and/or payment of claims.
- Alternatively, a Senior Certificate/Matric/Grade 12/Vocational Certificate (or equivalent), ideally with Mathematics or Accounting as a passed subject, and three years of proven experience in claims processing and/or payment.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in administering and processing Retirement Fund/Employee Benefits claims.
Skills and Experience:
- MS Office proficiency, with a particular focus on MS Excel.
Knowledge of:

DUTIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for various tasks related to the processing and payment of claims, which include:
Processing Claims:
- Review applications/claims for different types of exits or claims.
- Ensure all required supporting documentation is attached.
- Evaluate and update member records based on the documentation provided.
- Request missing member information to complete benefits applications.
Payment Processing:
- Review the initial payment decision based on the specific case.
- Reconcile service purchase figures and verify correct calculation of outstanding service for payments.
- Upload and check the accuracy of supporting documents for benefit payments.
- Verify beneficiary eligibility for payments according to established criteria.
- Review calculations based on member records, provide reasons for rejection if applicable.
- Route rejected claims according to standard procedures.
Review and Validation:
- Ensure all exceptions (e.g., death distributions, fraud, risk issues, unclaimed benefits, legal matters) are resolved as per relevant policies.
- Validate that the correct benefit is paid to members based on established criteria.
- Review and validate the content of benefit application forms.
- Initiate payment instructions.
