Ecologist needed at Digby Wells Environmental

Requirements

• Study and identify the different plant and animal species on a specific site.
• Conduct field surveys to collect data on certain Species of Special Concern.
• Classifying the organisms according to their species and characteristics (taxonomy).
• Apply sampling strategies and employ habitat survey techniques GPS, aerial photography, sonar images, and maps etc;
• Conduct and manage assessments as part of a project such as (Botanical, Faunal and Biodiversity assessments etc.).
• Compile and review reports for submission to client and/or legal authorities; and
• Project, client and public management.

Requirements

• Specialists’ knowledge of Fauna and Flora (Botany preferred).
• Plant species identification skills.
• Environmental Management experience.
• Project management experience.
• Detailed understanding of applicable environmental legislation.
• Research methodologies.
• Knowledge of land management would be advantageous.
• Understanding of Biodiversity Action Plans; and 
• Willing to travel within Africa.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. Hons degree (M.Sc. preferred) in related field.
• MSc. Degree would be beneficial.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience

• 4 – 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Consulting experience would be beneficial
