  • Operate, maintain, repair and optimise plant and associated equipment to ensure plant availability, cost, safety and product quality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Operational Support

  • Provide specialist electrical support to production and shift-based teams to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Act as a technical resource during breakdowns, fault finding, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional teams with electrical expertise to resolve complex operational challenges.

Breakdown & Running Repairs

  • Perform effective electrical fault diagnosis and repairs on plant and auxiliary equipment during operations.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore equipment to safe operational condition.
  • Ensure repairs are completed to a high standard, focusing on reliability and long-term sustainability.

Planned & Preventative Maintenance

  • Participate in maintenance planning and review meetings, contributing technical input and improvement ideas.
  • Execute planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and optimising electrical maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.

Equipment Performance & OEE

  • Ensure all electrical maintenance activities support maximum plant availability and efficiency.
  • Contribute to achieving OEE targets through proactive maintenance and effective fault prevention.
  • Identify recurring faults and implement corrective actions to eliminate root causes.

Housekeeping, Safety & Compliance

  • Work in strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards at all times.
  • Identify unsafe conditions or work practices and take corrective action or escalate as required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within work areas, electrical panels, and plant equipment.

Reporting & Administration

  • Complete maintenance reports, job cards, and fault logs accurately and timeously.
  • Capture maintenance data on the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to support planning and analysis.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and production teams regarding equipment condition and improvement opportunities.

Special Requirements

  • Physically capable of performing hands-on electrical work in an industrial plant environment.
  • Willing and able to work shifts, standby, callouts, and overtime when operationally required.

Core Competencies

  • Electrical maintenance systems and procedures
  • Compliance with engineering and electrical standards
  • Qualified and trade-tested Electrician
  • Knowledge of high-speed manufacturing and packaging machinery
  • Computer literacy with exposure to CMMS systems (DMS preferred)

Technical Competencies

  • Exposure to PLC systems (Siemens S7 preferred)
  • Experience with AC drives, motor control, and sequential control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across electrical, instrumentation, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and drawings

Experience & Qualifications

  • Qualified and trade-tested artisan
  • Minimum N3 technical qualification
  • 5–10 years electrical experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG experience advantageous)
