Requirements
- Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care is essential
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers serves as an advantage
- 1-year operational experience as an Emergency Care Assistant
- A valid drivers’ license and valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) (Requirement for Operations shifts. If only going to work events, no PrDP required)
Required job skills and knowledge:
- Knowledge and application of best practice
- Knowledge of the EMS environment
- English language skills (verbal and written)
- Familiar with facilities, travel routes, and geographical area
- Knowledge and application of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
- Working knowledge and experience of Patient Report Forms
- Upholds high ethical and professional standards
- Follows instructions and adheres to procedures
- Works accurately and thoroughly by attending to detail
- Responds constructively to pressure and perseveres through challenges
- Collaborates with and supports colleagues in order to achieve shared goals
- Strives to identify and deliver on clients’ needs and a continued focus on the client experience
