Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate university degree and professional qualification;
  • Teaching experience at senior high school level in English;
  • Ability to teach Further Studies English is recommended;
  • Forward thinking teacher who nurtures robust academic standards will be an advantage;
  • Current Registration with SACE and clearance certificates;
  • Computer literacy and ability to integrate IT suitably in teaching/learning, however, special interest and further experience in this area will be advantageous;
  • A dynamic, creative personality with strong interpersonal skills;
  • A commitment to full participation in the extra-mural activities of the school;
  • Teaching experience within the IEB system is essential;
  • Experience in the demands of the GET and FET curricula;
  • Must have the ability to identify with the values and ethos of the school.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and preparation of developmentally appropriate and relevant lessons based on current material;
  • Engaging in class teaching which will foster a purposeful progression in learning, and which is consistent with the learning areas and programmes of subjects and grades as well as the academic standards of the school;
  • Keeping accurate observations of pupils and engage in continuous assessment so that their progress is continuously monitored and regularly reported on;
  • Developing and implementing a suitable classroom management system, establishing routines and effective rules for acceptable behaviour;
  • Catering for the personal wellbeing and general welfare of all students in your care;
  • Sharing in the responsibilities of organising and conducting extra and co-curricular activities as per the extra-curricular roster;
  • Adhering to the guidelines and requirements of the school’s calendar – in particular when scheduling student activities and assessments;
  • Assisting with the organisation of and attending school functions and events including, but not limited to, assemblies, staff workshops, festivals and parent evenings.
