PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • To Provide age-appropriate patient care according to the nursing scope of practice as defined by the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Primarily responsible for the general care of the patients in the Operating Theatre. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Practice within your scope of practice as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • To update and maintain quality records within the statutory required retention period through proper identification, filing, storage maintenance and disposition of these records.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient induction and maintenance of anaesthesia throughout the peri-operative phase
  • To ensure and maintain accurate billings of drugs and consumable items used in theatre.
  • Effectively utilise, maintain and store theatre equipment according to standards
  • Ensures the cleanliness and tidiness of the theatre, anaesthetic rooms, and other areas of theatre.
  • Compliant with Hospital Policies and Regulations.
  • Accurate record keeping and efficiency in nursing documentation
  • Maintain safety standards, and the provision of quality patient care in the operating room

COMPETENCIES (The following will be advantageous)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

(Educational Qualifications & Experience)

  • Matric is essential.
  • Registered qualification as an enrolled nurse is essential.
  • Must be registered with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • At least two or more years of experience as an Enrolled Nurse working in a theatre environment is essential.
  • Must be prepared to work long hours and flexibility is required.
  • Computer literate.
