Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development or Planning. A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
- Registration as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).
- Minimum four (4) years experience in the Environmental Management Field, with specific expertise in environmental impact assessments and reporting, ecological compliance/control auditing, EIA’s linked to development, and water & waste management. Working within a Protected Area environment will be an added
- Experience with municipal planning processes will be an added advantage.
- Valid Code 08 (B) drivers
- Broad knowledge of impacts associated with a range of development types in different
- Experience with developing and monitoring Environmental Management Systems will be an added advantage
- A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues, relevant legislation, and international best practices within a Protected Area;
- Effective Team Player and Self-Management;
- Proven experience with compliance; monitoring, auditing, and reporting, including conducting EIAs;
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) (English);
- Good working knowledge of MS Office software package;
- Good team-working; networking and influencing skills.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate proposed developments, EIA applications, and activities within the buffer areas of Kruger National Park;
- Conduct and report on compliance monitoring with environmental legislation including NEMA, NEM, BA, NEM, PAA, NWA;
- Assist with the implementation of the Environmental Management System for Kruger National Park;
- Support Environmental Impact Assessment processes to ensure adherence to all environmental-related legislation and standards;
- Conduct environmental auditing of development and operational activities within areas that are part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Areas (GLTFCA) Cooperative Agreement;
- Assessing strategic planning instruments such as municipal integrated development plans, and spatial development frameworks;
- Stakeholder management and Advising and liaising with internal/external departments, partners and regulatory bodies;
- Assessing, analyzing, collating, and communicating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients, and regulatory bodies;
- Ensure that all Environmental reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines, and schedules;
- Investigate environmental incidents and EMS inefficiencies and make recommendations to the General Manager: Regional Integration and Planning.;
- Communicate awareness about environmental legislation requirements and procedures;
- Support the development and review of management plans;
- Assist with internal and external reporting
- Assist with the implementation of the GLTFCA Cooperative Agreement
- Perform administration and finance management.
