Environmental Officer: Specialised Production (Environmental Empowerment services) needed at Eastern Cape Department: Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism

REQUIREMENTS:

• National Senior Certificate plus a relevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Nature Conservation, Environmental Law, or a related qualification.
• Experience: As per OSD requirements; however, 1–2 years of relevant experience will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
• Sound knowledge of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
• Familiarity with the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA).
• Computer literacy and strong administrative skills.
• Good writing and communication skills.

DUTIES:

• Participate in the implementation of environmental education programmes to support the integration of environmental education into formal education structures (schools, SETAs, ABET, higher education institutions, etc.).
• Implement environmental capacity-building programmes for the general public and relevant stakeholders.
• Promote and implement environmental awareness programmes within communities.
• Perform and manage administrative and related functions as required.
