Description

Specific areas of accountability relate to the following:

  • Monitoring and reporting on compliance obligations (Water, Waste and Atmospheric Emissions Licenses).
  • Coordinating and scheduling internal and external audits in accordance with the requirements of environmental licenses.
  • Participating in maintenance of the ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Calculation and reporting of environmental aspects of ESG reporting (GHG emissions, energy consumption, water consumption and waste disposal).

Audits

  • Coordinate rectification of audit findings.
  • Schedule and participate in external compliance audits.
  • Participate in external systems audits (ISO14001).
  • Compiling data and records required for external compliance audits.
  • Schedule and conduct internal environmental audits.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • ESG Reporting: coordinate annual data collection for Scope 3 emissions calculation (supply chain, transport, travel and commuting).
  • Waste Management Licence: Compile data and submit monthly SAWIC reports. Conduct monitoring required by National Norms and Standards under the Waste Act.
  • Atmospheric Emissions Licence: Collate results of continuous emissions monitoring equipment into format required by Nkangala District Municipality.
  • ESG Reporting: Calculate monthly values of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions.  Capture monthly data on GHG emissions, water and energy consumption and waste disposal on Acerinox reporting platform.
  • Water Use Licence: Collate results of weekly samples into format required by the Department of Water and Sanitation.

On-site Sampling

  • Assist Environmental Engineer with water sampling related to incident investigation and improvement projects.
  • Prepare samples of waste streams as required for assessment of recycling potential.

Meetings

  • Attend and contribute to the Utilities Safety Meeting.
  • Attend Upper Olifants River Catchment Management Forum meetings (water quality).
  • Attend Highveld Priority Area Implementation Task Team meetings (air quality).

Requirements

Primary qualification

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Dip in Environmental Management / Environmental Science.
  • BSc in Environmental Management / Environmental Science will be advantageous.

Work experience 

  • 2 Years grade 7 and 4 Years Grade 6·  
  • Industrial processes / Manufacturing / Waste handling / Environmental assessment / auditing.· 
  • Work experience in any economic or academic sector.
