About the Role

Facilities Managers oversee hospital maintenance, infrastructure projects, and compliance programs through platforms like SAP, Oracle, and AWS. They play a key role in operational risk management and cost efficiency.

Main Focus Areas

  • Responsible for the management of the hospital’s entire facilities which includes all building and plant & equipment ​
  • Ensure compliance to statutory maintenance, OSH Act and R158 ​
  • Management of asset management system, staff, budget, and projects​
  • Support the strategic objectives of the hospital’s business plan through optimal management of facilities management and hospital engineering.

Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)

  • Management all buildings and plant & equipment. ​
  • Management, training, and development of staff.​
  • Manage the asset management system i.e., asset register, asset verification, scheduled inspections & preventative maintenance, and repairs.​
  • Manage expenditure in line with approved budgets, Capex and Opex. ​
  • Environmental management​
  • Management of contractors. ​
  • Stakeholder engagement i.e., communicate at all levels which includes Doctors, Patients, and Managers within the hospital. ​
  • Administration – accurate record keeping, and compilation of stats related to the Facilities Management. ​
  • Management of internal projects. ​
  • Competent Person appointment (GMR2)​
  • Soft services management (Security, catering and sanitation)​

Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)

  • Minimum of a National Diploma (N5 or S4) (Electrical heavy current or Mechanical)​
  • N5 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Diploma is preferable)​
  • Proven Microsoft Office proficiency ​
  • Computerised management system experience​
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in people management. ​
  • Relevant experience related to Facilities Management ​
  • Management of construction projects i.e., planning, budgeting, executing, and commissioning.

Career Growth & Education

Degrees in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Business Administration combined with certifications in Project Management or Safety Leadership are valuable. Global management or remote consultancy opportunities may arise.

Salary & Financial Insight

Estimated monthly salary ranges from ZAR 50,000 to ZAR 75,000. Incorporating investment and insurance planning secures financial well-being.
