Farm Manager needed at Helderberg Personnel

Purpose of the Role:

• To oversee all farming operations for high-quality core fruit (apples and pears) and stone fruit (peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots) in the Koue Bokkeveld, ensuring sustainable practices, consistent yields and premium standards, while leading and developing a committed farm team.

Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To

• Plan, implement and manage all orchard operations from cultivation through to harvest
• Farming scope: management of ±80–100 ha across both core fruit and stone fruit orchards
• Maintain optimal crop quality, yield and sustainable farming practices
• Lead, motivate and manage farm workers, ensuring a safe and productive working environment
• Oversee budgets, resources and the maintenance of equipment and farm infrastructure
• Monitor irrigation, soil health and crop protection programmes
• Coordinate with packing, marketing and distribution teams to meet export and local market demands
• Uphold high standards of quality, productivity and environmental responsibility

Criteria

• Degree in Agriculture or related field
• Proven experience in managing large-scale orchards, ideally across both core fruit and stone fruit
• Strong technical knowledge of orchard management, irrigation and crop protection
• Excellent people-management and communication skills
• Hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong problem-solving ability
• High level of computer literacy
• Fluent in Afrikaans and proficient in English
• Valid driver’s licence
• Passion for the Koue Bokkeveld and a commitment to sustainable farming
