Field Testing Breeding Technical Trainee X2 needed at Bayer

Job Purpose:

• This trainees offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in plant breeding operations and to gain initial experience in practical field trials with an international seed company.
• This program is highly suitable for students who would like to follow a career in agronomic research and crop production.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Participate in all aspects of seed preparation, planting, harvesting and data collection. 
• Perform computer-related activities, including handheld data collection, data management and providing support for all day-to-day activities. 
• Coordinate and assist in all seed lab operations including seed shelling, packaging, treating and packet arrangement. 
• Coordinate and assist with all field operations including machine planting yield trial plots, nurseries, pollinations, data collection and machine harvesting of yield trial plots. 
• Lead field teams and assist with timely and accurate data collection from research plots. 
• Assist in implementation of site safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. 
• Actively participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies. 
• Communicates with farmers to coordinate off-station trials. 
• 50% of responsibilities are off-site field related activities/Traveling.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• National Diploma with appropriate experience in the discipline 
• Basic knowledge of crop production, farming practices and farm equipment operation
• Knowledge of mobile data collection an advantage
