Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and manage financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing financial performance.
- Reporting and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Prepare financial statements and reports for senior directors and external stakeholders.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the company’s financial strategy, providing insights and recommendations to support long-term financial goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, including credit, market, and operational risks. Implement risk management strategies and policies.
- Treasury Management: Oversee cash management, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and investment strategies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial performance and strategies to senior executives, board members, and investors.
- Cost Management: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Tax Planning: Collaborate with tax professionals to optimize tax strategies and compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and changes in financial regulations to ensure the organization’s financial practices remain competitive and compliant.
Inherent Requirements
Experience:
- Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with financial regulations, reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
- Must have experience in budgeting procedures, financial reporting including Tax and VAT, cost analysis and standard costing, and capital application processing, with previous experience of working in an integrated business which includes biological assets would be an advantage;
- Advanced knowledge in the use of financial software applications and databases;
- Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced or Professional;
- Must be fluent in English & Afrikaans
- Key requirements include being commercially sound, deadline-driven, and having attention to detail
- The ideal candidate should be hardworking, honest, self-motivated, and disciplined and be able to work under extreme pressure
- It is essential that the candidate have a passion for implementing and maintaining a continuous workplace improvement program (20 Keys)
- The chosen candidate must be proactive, and have good management, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as problem-solving and planning skills
- The ability to build a strong finance team, and train & develop staff, together with personal and professional integrity are key requirements;
- Code 08 driver’s license and reliable transport are essential.
Desired qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in financial management, including experience in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Minimum Degree, but preferably a CA qualification.
Skills:
- Advanced financial analysis skills, including proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership and management skills to oversee and mentor operational teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, using Sage Accounting, Sage Payroll , Microsoft Excel, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software.
Experience:
- Sage: 3 years (Preferred)
- Senior Finance Management: 2 years (Required)
