Overview:
- We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Manager to oversee the financial health and operational performance of various legal entities within the Cape Union Mart Group. This role requires strategic planning, financial acumen, and the ability to lead a team effectively. This person needs to be able to work well with team members at various levels within the business, from junior accountants to the CEO/CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Analysis
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and budgets.
- Monitor and report on financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct detailed variance analyses and provide actionable insights.
- Budgeting and Cost Management
- Prepare, manage, and oversee multiple annual budgets and components thereof.
- Ensure cost efficiency and effective resource allocation.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Accounting and Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and monthly management accounts. This includes the following:
- preparation of technical accounting journals, examples of which include IFRS 16, IFRS 15 etc.
- review of journals prepared by junior team members.
- Review Annual Financial Statements
- Preparation of the annual consolidation and Group Financial Statements.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors.
- Review monthly VAT calculation, submit on e-Filling an ensure payments are authorised.
- Prepare certain annual tax calculations.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Risk Management
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risks effectively.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with senior management to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making
- Provide monthly (planned) and adhoc reporting to team members at various levels within the business, including the CEO and CFO.
- Operational
- Review payment reconciliations and release supplier payments.
- Assist junior team members with technical reconciliations of complex general ledger accounts
- Prepare manufacturing divisions stock counts and perform (along with junior team members) test counts to assess the accuracy of the process followed by business.
Qualification
- CA (SA) registered with SAICA with 0 (newly qualified) to 3 years post article experience.
