Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning and Management:
  • Develop and implement production schedules
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of raw materials
  • Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate changes in order volume or product specifications
  • Quality Control:
  • Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures and protocols
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and finished products
  • Address and resolve any quality issues that arise
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate production staff, including line supervisors, machine operators, and other production workers
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment
  • Address employee performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Promote continuous improvement and staff development through training programs and workshops
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols and emergency response procedures
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents
  • Process Optimization:
  • Analyse production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and other efficiency-enhancing methodologies
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning optimally
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
  • Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations
  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials
  • Implement and oversee inventory control systems
  • Ensure efficient product distribution
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and other key indicators
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and personnel
  • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and company policies

Qualifications required:

  • Degree or diploma in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, FSSC22000)
  • Proven experience in production planning, quality control, and process optimisation
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
