Food Service Supervisor (Salary Level 4) Job at Gauteng Department of Health

Requirements :

• Grade 12 certificate with five years’ experience in Food Service Unit within hospital environment. A Certificate in Hospitality Services / Catering will be an added advantage.
• Candidate will be working shifts, weekends and public holidays. Skills and abilities: Food preparation skills, numeracy skills, organizing skills, problem solving skills, computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• The candidate must have knowledge and application of Batho Pele principles, Ideal Hospital framework, customer care, Patient safety incident management, complaints, compliments and suggestion management procedures.

Duties :

• Responsible for supervision of all food service personnel and their activities. Responsible for processing of statistics and record keeping. Responsible for the ordering, receiving, storing, issuing and maintaining of stock control in the food service unit. Assist with cost control measures e.g. key control measures.
• Responsible for supervision of production processes, portioning, dishing up and distribution of all normal and therapeutic diets.
• Assist with client satisfaction survey and plate wastage. Responsible for the implementation of hygiene and safety processes in the food service unit, use and maintenance of equipment.
• Evaluate work performance and sign PMDS according to the guidelines. Adhere to all food service guidelines, policies and procedures. Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act. Perform duties as allocated by the next level manager.
