About the Role

This role provides critical technical support for high-RPM clinical nutrition operations, managing 100% compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Utilizing ServiceNow for facility incident tracking and specialized health informatics, the aid reduces operational risk in patient meal delivery. Their work ensures that nutritional data is accurately executed to support patient recovery and maintains the administrative reliability of the provincial health kitchen.

  • Appropriate experience in preparing patient meals in hospitals environment.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good communication skills. Self- disciplined, motivated, sober habits, willingness to develop skills and undergo training. Ability to read, write and interpret recipes to prepare meals to be served and be able to use an electronic kitchen scale. Appropriate knowledge of basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment used in the Food Service Unit.
  • Physically strong to lift heavy objects and be on their feet the entire day. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, overime and public holidays.
  • Provision of food services, including pre-preparation & preparation of normal and special diets as well as dishing up and distribution of the meals. Assist with the receiving and storage of perishables and groceries.
  • Implement and control hygienic environment according to occupational health and safety prescripts including infection control. Assist with the maintenance of appliances and equipment. Assist with the informal in-service training of new employees in the unit.
  • R 138 486 per annum – R 163 131 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).

Career Growth & Education

A basic education qualification (Grade 10 or 12) is required, supplemented by specialized certifications in Professional Cookery or Food Safety. Growth is supported by advancing to Food Services Supervisor or Catering Manager roles through further studies in hospitality management. Participating in professional development workshops on clinical nutrition standards provides a pathway to senior auxiliary roles within the public healthcare sector.

Salary & Financial Insight
