- A well-established Fuel service station based in Kempton Park is looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Manager to oversee the full day-to-day operations of a busy petrol station. Reporting directly to the Owner, this role involves the end-to-end management of both the forecourt and convenience store operations, with a dual focus on leadership and financial governance. Two on-site supervisors (forecourt and store) will report to the Assistant Manager, who will lead a permanent staff of approximately 24. The successful candidate will bring strong administrative capabilities, people management experience, and the drive to operate in a fast-paced retail environment. This is a newly created position offering long-term growth, with potential to step into a full Site Manager role over time
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Post-matric certificate or qualification
- Minimum 2–3 years’ supervisory experience (non-negotiable)
- Strong administration skills
- Proficiency in MS Word and especially MS Excel (key requirement)
- Willingness to work retail hours and alternate weekends
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Must reside near Kempton Park (within reasonable commute)
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport (Not Negotiable)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full operational management of the service station, including forecourt and store
- Leadership and oversight of 2 direct-report supervisors and total staff complement of 24
- Recruitment and selection of new staff in collaboration with the site owner
- Staff discipline management using appropriate IR procedures
- Handling and resolving customer queries professionally and efficiently
- Daily cash-up reconciliation and analysis of trading variances or losses
- Petty cash management, reconciliation, and float issuance
- Monitoring of fuel levels and reconciliation of deliveries (against Delivery Notes and ATG readings)
- Inventory management: oversight of daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts
- Ensuring supplier GRNs are captured accurately and prepared for payment processing
- Generating remittances for bookkeeper and producing item labels where applicable
- General administrative duties related to site governance, reporting, and operational controls
