Geology Manager needed at Sasol

Purpose of Job

• To manage the implementation of exploration processes and activities related to the Geology and Rights and Properties fields to secure successful mines and projects.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

• Ensure modelling and database software is fit for purpose and provide guidance and training to other users.
• Manage the integration of qualities from the laboratory into the database and ensure the accuracy thereof
• Thorough understanding of geological software and modelling principles
• Manage the annual geological modelling process for Sasol Mining
• In depth knowledge of coal qualities including washability
• Provide a holistic overview of weekly coal qualities and geological conditions to customers
• Ability to log and sample boreholes to the required standard
• Create, clarify, embed and enforce geological standards
• Identify, share and embed best practices and new technologies
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Coaching and mentoring of junior geologists and EIT’s

Formal Education

• BSC (Hons) Geology 

Min Experience

• Experience: 10+ relevant years
