Graduate Accountant Job at Nexio

• We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in general accounting, asset management, and financial operations.
• The successful candidate will support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, managing the fixed asset register, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Assist with the preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register (both system and manual).
• Ensure all asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers are accurately recorded.
• Monitor asset lifecycle and depreciation schedules.
• Support asset procurement processes and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
• Manage and reconcile corporate cards, including Amex and fleet cards.
• Ensure all card transactions are supported by valid documentation and comply with company policy.
• Liaise with cardholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely submissions.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and procedures.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
• Support preparation of financial reports and schedules for management.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
• Participate in finance projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Perform any other finance-related duties as assigned.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Matric is Essential
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Entry level experience required, but internship or vacation work in a finance environment is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial systems.
