JOB PURPOSE
- Conceptualise, create, and maintain visual design elements to communicate content that inspires, informs, and/or captivates internal and external stakeholders
Design and layout
- Interpret briefs, generate design concepts, by selecting the most suitable elements for the design.
- Incorporate feedback received from business on design concepts.
- Conceptualise and design materials for use across various platforms, including print, online platforms and electronic mediums, for internal and external use.
- Design items to include but not limited to: E-mailers; e-newsletters; website banners and advertisements; brand guideline documents; brochures and pamphlets; advertorial layouts, print and online advertisement layouts; infographics and illustrations; booklets; guides; posters; signs; PowerPoint presentations; invitations; collateral items like organisational ID cards, banners, certificates, information packs, folders; screensavers and other elements.
- Create and/or enhance existing graphics, designs, icons, and other elements as needed.
- Develop visual content of high quality, including animations, videos, and interactive media for different platforms such as websites and social media.
- Contribute to the FIC website designs.
- Enhance prepared presentations and keeping a presentation library updated.
- Build and keep the FIC’s image library updated.
- Capture and edit photographs and videos at both internal and external events.
Brand consistency
- Maintain consistency and align all designs with the FIC’s brand identity and guidelines.
- Apply the FIC corporate identity creatively and innovatively on all designs for internal and external use.
- Maintain, uphold and ensure that the corporate identity is carried consistently and accurately across all projects, events, marketing communication materials, digital and multimedia content, video, presentations etc.

- Act as a brand custodian, ensure adherence to brand guidelines while pushing creative boundaries.
General
- Liaise with divisions, business units and/or service providers for co-ordination purposes and to ensure timeous and appropriate delivery final products.
- Understand electronic and print reproduction to ensure that work is ready for publishing on print and digital platforms.
- Conduct research on industry trends to ensure the brand remains visually competitive and stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies and apply these creatively in designs for the FIC.
- Perform multiple design efforts and deliverables while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
- Prepare mock-ups and presenting to business before deciding on final design products.
- Ensure that approved artwork is correct and supplied in the right format, sizes and colour codes before being sent to production facilities.
- Being the technical lead on the creative direction of all design jobs to ensure brand consistency and innovation.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders on proposed concepts and designs.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant University Degree in Graphic Design or a related field
- Minimum of five years’ work experience in graphic design
- Experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (fluency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) required
- Web design: Proficiency in WordPress will be advantageous
- Knowledge of SharePoint will be advantageous
- Knowledge of HTML, XML and HTTP
- Ability to apply own creativity, concepts, and ideas for designs across various elements where necessary
- Good understand of typography, design principles, ideation, brand application, designing for print and digital products, application of UI (user interface), and UX (user experience) in digital and other design concepts.
- Ability to identify print and electronic media for relevant coverage on the FIC
- Interest in gaining knowledge and understanding about the financial intelligence environment to keep abreast of developments
- Ability to conduct desktop research related to matching best design concepts with communication and business requirements
- Capability to perform large volumes of work under pressure and under tight deadlines while paying close attention to detail
- Efficiency in time management and time keeping is essential
- Ability to be flexible and agile in a changing communication environment
- Knowledge of basic principles relating to photography and videography and to use these skills in the graphic design environment as well as the web and electronic communication environment
- Working knowledge of social media trends and platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry relevant multimedia software
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
